MY YOGA JOURNEY

My name is Elayne and I have come to the principles of what I call YogaMotus after 40 years of experience and study in Health and Exercise.

I am now 60 years old and became interested in yoga in my thirties. I had two young children. I was teaching aerobics and fitness classes and was very busy. I was given a Yoga video. It was a nice balance to everything else I did and it made me feel good and it encouraged me to buy and read several books. I began my yoga journey.

Over the years, through my yoga experience, I have come to understand that my body, mind and spirit are happier when they work together in harmony. I have tried many physical activities but in my yoga practice I feel I have it all.

I am very proud to have become a qualified yoga teacher and to do it for my pleasure and well-being. It's hard to explain, but yoga has helped me to see myself as a whole. It helps me build patience and kindness with myself and with others and I have learnt through teaching yoga that amazing things can be achieved by gentle, simple, step by step, consistent practice, without any force or strain.

YogaMotus means yoga in motion. It is a seamless integration of yoga and movement. Being in movement is so much softer and kinder on the joints and the body than being in stillness and if mistakes are made the impact is less on the body. As we flow we learn to feel physical sensations and make adjustments so the sensations felt are quiet and soft in our joints. The word yoga means to unite and so through feeling we connect the body, mind and spirit which is the essence of yoga.

YogaMotus class plans are simple, easy to follow, with detailed thought provoking instruction and they are soft and kind on the joints.

Practices are complete and will stretch and tone your whole body and through breathing and meditation will quieten your mind.

You are encouraged to finish your class with deep relaxation inviting your mind and body to rest. Doing so you will finish class feeling, less anxious, more calm, more peaceful and more relaxed.

On this website I provide some  free video tutorials on how to perform some basic poses/sequences. New class videos and tutorials will be added to the website from time to time.

The habit of practising a regular YogaMotus class in your own home will help improve your flexibility, strength, posture, focus and balance. It will also quiet and calm your mind.

I recommend that you become a subscriber and practice YogaMotus every day!
